We wanted to create a web community based on 'inclusivity' rather than 'exclusivity'.
1. By mutually introducing you to other osnapz members
2. Rather than 'add as friend' requests, you simply take an osnapz (snapshot) of
someone's profile, and they're added to your osnapz album.
By doing this we hope to foster a more open community rather than closed community.
What do oprah, your favourite GQ, or Mademoiselle, or your favorite NPR station
all have in common?
You get to know the person via interview questions, rather than them going on about
themselves in an extended monologue. Besides, how do you normally get to know a
person on a first date? Asking & answering interview questions. ;)
We hope not, we like to think of osnapz as a hybrid site, which is taking the best
of the web and packaging it into a site you will hopefully enjoy.
We stayed away from the 'web 2.0 look', in fact our square'ish look might be deemed
by some as anti-web 2.0, (this is due more to our lack of design skills). But we
didn't neglect to leverage ajax as a tool to make your web life easier. =)
So umm yeah, since the both of you know you've been mutually intro'd, browse their
profile page. If you think they're cute, if you want to have a hot hookup, if you
think you share the same interests- osnap them, msg them, give them a thumbs up,
get their virtual digits, ask them your own personal interview question! .. or simply
ignore them. Do what you do as you would offline in the real world.
Yes, most definitely. It was designed for such purposes and so much more.. for example:
1. Jump point to your other sites (Flickr, blog, Myspace, personal url)
2. Community social site
3. Photo album
4. Personal homepage
5. Advertising for your portfolio (ie. photography, art, modeling)
6. Marketing, while you're logged off, your profile is being viewed 24/7
7. Your very own magazinesque interview =P
Osnapz is a community site, therefore it is community policed. we'll need your help
in identifying offensive content. On the left hand column of each profile you will
see a 'flag for review' link. Simply click that and enter the reason. It will then
be sent to us for review and action.
We wanted to re-create online how people normally meet in real life in two ways,
by mutual friend or by chance. Our site facilitates that by acting as your mutual
buddy. You'll be mutually introduced in your inbox, just as you would be at a party,
the introduction has been made, barriers now down, its then up to you. There is
also the shuffle button which represents the act of meeting people at random you
might run into as you would in life, on the left hand column of each profile there's
a 'please introduce us' link, click-at-will.
Everyone has the same set of questions to answer, these questions come from us as
well as user submitted questions. You can also create your own questions if you
don't like ours! The idea is to get to know you through how you answer
the questions. Note: new questions are being added all the time, you will
be notified via your inbox and they will appear in your 'interview questions'.
1. Interview questions are your form of web-speak here.
2. We figure you probably already have an established blog, if not there are a plethora
of quality free blog sites out there who can do it way better than us anyway. You
can always link to your blog from your osnapz profile page.
No. You have a wealth of personal preferences to choose from in your account page,
although we highly recommend meeting random people (you never know who'll you'll
meet or what you'll learn). But if that doesn't float your boat, you can be introduced
by criteria.
